We are delighted to introduce Daniel Guzmán as our festival guest this year! His festival film Nothing in Return (A cambio de nada) is, as Guzmán himself describes, an “intergenerational story full of humour, joy and some pain."
Daniel Guzmán began his career at the ripe young age of 14. After diverse roles in film, television and theatre, he began writing, producing and directing in 2013 with his first short film Dreams (Sueños) which was awarded in several national and international festivals, including the prestigious Goya Award and the main prize “Espiga de Oro” in the Valladolid Film Festival.
Nothing in Return is his first feature film, an autobiographical project in which he has invested nine years. The result has collected multiple awards worldwide, including Best New Director and Actor at the recent Goya Awards, along with awards in Málaga, Toulouse, Corcega and Almeria.
Daniel will attend Sydney and Melbourne for the Opening Night events, and also participate in Q&A sessions in these cities after select screenings of his film.
