It seems simple: an egg + sperm = one embryo. But if your sperm is “few, vague and abnormal” and your partner is premenopausal at age 37, things start to get complicated.
Alina (Alexandra Jiménez) wants to take the next step and have a child with her partner Fran, played by popular comedian Paco León (director of much-loved Carmina films). However, complications arise when she is diagnosed as premenopausal. The couple elect to proceed with IVF treatment, but through the gruelling process, cracks begin to form in their seemingly perfect relationship. Following both good and bad advice of friends, family and acquaintances, Alina and Fran fumble with the concepts of becoming adults and what it means to be a parent. The result is many hilarious altercations and circumstances!
Award-winning director Juana Macías (Planes para manana, 2010) chooses a serious subject matter and deals with it in an unconventionally playful manner with two very charismatic and likeable characters, each choosing their own road in dealing with a divisive issue.
