One moment of inattention was all it took to change the lives of Javier (Benjamín Vicuña) and Amanda (Elena Anaya, SFF15 Festival guest for They Are All Dead). After a tragic accident results in the loss of their son, the couple’s relationship is pushed beyond its limits. For Amanda, the daily reminders of her son’s life are so unbearable she leaves both her home and husband behind and plunges into her work as an interpreter. Javier finds himself unable to cope with the separation and descends into a cycle of loneliness and casual relationships. Time passes, but Javier and Amanda never completely lose contact. Gradually, they realize that the past they share is a precious memory that should not be forgotten.
Winding its way through the most intimate chambers of the heart, Goya award winning writer-director Matías Bize’s (The Life of Fish, 2010) film champions its leads as they soulfully portray the tensions between the yearning, fear, joy and agony that comes of great loss.
